ഭൂരിപക്ഷത്തിലായിരുന്നു കെനിയാറ്റയുടെ വിജയം.

ഭാഷയില്‍ (സ്വാഹിലി) `സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം' എന്നാണര്‍ത്ഥം. കെനിയയിലെ പ്രബലമായ കികുയു
ഗോത്രത്തില്‍പ്പെട്ട കെനിയാറ്റയ്‌ക്കെതിരെ ഗോത്രകലാപം ഇളക്കിവിട്ട്‌ അനേകം പേര്‍
കൊല്ലപ്പെടാനിടയാക്കിയതിന്‌ രാജ്യാന്തര ക്രിമിനല്‍ കോടതിയില്‍ കേസ്‌
നടക്കുന്നുണ്ട്‌.
2001ല്‍ പാര്‍ലമെന്റിലെത്തി. അന്നത്തെ പ്രസിഡന്റ്‌ മോയിയുടെ
ആശീര്‍വാദത്തോടെ തരതമ്യേന പരിചയം കുറഞ്ഞയാളായിട്ടും കെനിയാറ്റ തദ്ദേശഭരണ
മന്ത്രിയായി. 2008 മുതല്‍ കെനിയയുടെ ഡപ്യൂട്ടി പ്രൈം മിനിസ്‌റ്ററായിരുന്നു. ഇതേ
പദവിയിലിരിക്കെ 2009 മുതല്‍ 2012 വരെ ഫിനാന്‍സ്‌ മിനിസ്‌റ്ററുടെ പദവിയും വഹിച്ചു.
രാജ്യാന്തര കോടതിയില്‍ കേസ്‌ വന്നതോടെ 2012 ജനുവരിയില്‍ ധനകാര്യ മന്ത്രിപദത്തില്‍
നിന്ന്‌ രാജിവച്ചു.

Uhuru Kenyatta has won the presidential election in the African nation Kenya. He defeated his opponent Raila Odinga with a narrow margin. He is also the son of Kenya’s founding President, Jomo Kenyatta. The word ‘Uhuru’ in Swahili language means ‘freedom’.
A case is going on in the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Kenyatta who belongs to the Kikuyu tribe, for instigating and financing tribal violence in which over thousands died.
He entered the Parliament in 2001. Despite of his inexperience, Kenyatta became minister for local government, under the blessings of the then President Moi. Since 2008 he served as the Deputy Prime minister of Kenya. At the same time, he held the post of the Finance minister from 2009 to 2012. It was when the suit was filed against him in the ICC that he resigned from the post of the Finance minister.
