ആറ്റം സിനിമയില്‍ നായകനായി!

ഐബിഎം ഗവേഷകരാണ് ഒരു കാര്‍ബണ്‍ ആറ്റത്തെ നായകനാക്കി സിനിമ പിടിച്ചത്. സ്‌കാനിംഗ് ടണലിംഗ് മൈക്രോസ്‌കോപ്പ് എന്ന ഒരു ഉപകരണത്തിന്റെ സഹായത്തോടെയാണ് ഇത് സാധ്യമാക്കിയത്. ഈ ഉപകരണം കണ്ടെത്തിയതിന് ഐബിഎം ഗവേഷകര്‍ക്ക് 1986ല്‍ ഭൗതികശാസ്ത്രത്തിനുള്ള നൊബേല്‍ പുരസ്‌ക്കാരം ലഭിച്ചിരിന്നു.
‘A Boy and His Atom’ എന്നാണ് സിനിമയുടെ പേര്. 90 സെക്കന്റ് മാത്രമാണ് സിനിമയുടെ ദൈര്‍ഘ്യം. ഏതായാലും ലോകത്തെ ഏറ്റവും സൂക്ഷ്മ സിനിമ എന്ന ഗിന്നസ് ബുക്ക് അംഗീകാരവും ഇതിന് ലഭിച്ചു.

Superstar Atom in ‘A Boy and His Atom’ !

Are you all film-fans? Who is your favourite star? Now a days film stars are becoming more and more six-pack manics...Anyways, here is some news about a film in which the smallest stars ever enacted. 

Researchers at IBM have created a movie by manipulating single atoms on a copper surface. The animation uses a few dozen carbon atoms, moved around with the help of an instrument called scanning tunnelling microscope (STM). It would take about 1,000 of the frames of the film laid side by side to span a single human hair. This has been certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's smallest movie. 

The new movie is titled ‘A Boy and His Atom’. Duration is just 90 seconds. The equipment used, the STM, is an IBM invention which garnered the scientists behind it the 1986 Nobel prize in physics.
